Adeventure to Port Issac: Day One

Thursday 25th April.

Let's get this story going then shall we. So we were meant to be up for 6a.m to be able to get my gran for half seven and get on the road. Well this didn't go according to plan - but we could hardly expect it..with us nothing ever does!

So what went wrong?
We woke up late..not VERY late but late enough to turn the morning upside down..we woke up 6.30..not late like I said but with 3 people fighting for the bathroom all demanding a shower, there was a slight issue..anyway that's beside the point we did eventually get going after I nearly forgot the book thinking it's in the car when it wasn't. Honestly would have cried if I'd not remembered to check last minute and stormed back into the house.

After getting on the road I began to add 'finishing' touches on the book, which really means filling in 6 sections, which is pretty bad considering there is only 6 sections in the whole book. This included Fan art, Fan edits, Links, Top Girls, Characters and Comments. So basically in the entire book there was A LOT to do! Although I really don't know why considering how long I spent on it, it never seemed to end!

We were finally going and I was working away cutting, sticking and trying to write neatly on bumpy roads (Doing last minute homework on the bus has really paid off) but then I had another crisis. I ran out of decorative paper. The one thing crucial to making it look pretty and decorative had ran out. We were driving through Devon at the time and we some how managed to find a small service station where I had to improvise and buy cupcake wrapping paper and butterfly wrapping paper, and it was possibly the best thing to ever happen it made it look so much prettier it just sort reflected off the light and looked wonderful if I do say so my self.

We got to our beautiful little bed and breakfast in St Teath which is literally the next village down it's tiny mind. I loved it there, if you are planning to go and can't get anywhere in Port Issac I'd defiantly recommend Path's End it's wonderful and the owners are so friendly.

We agreed to head straight into Port Issac but then my parents persuaded me it'd be best to get as much of the book done in case we bumped into her while we were there. So I did as much as I could but there was far to much to be done so we left it and I wasn't really worried because I knew there was no scheduled filming and I just had the feeling that I wasn't going to 'bump into her' so I said we should just go. This was quiet a while after we got there mind because we got there for about half 11 and didn't leave until one.ish - I don't know the exact times.

Driving into Port Issac was like a dream and walking around blew me away. I absolutely love it there, I felt so happy, much happier than I had been in a long time. We walked up to the Old School Hotel and looked around, the view is stunning.

After we went up to Mrs T's shop or The Buttermilk Shop (http://www.buttermilkconfections.co.uk/) which is its actually name in the village and spoke to a lovely man there who was so friendly and helpful. The shop has some beautiful little trinkets and some gorgeous sweets, we went back and forth as my Dad has quiet a sweet tooth and I just liked the feel of the shop, the atmosphere is so welcoming where ever you go.
From there we headed up to the Doc's house, I was mainly focusing on my rural landscape photography and this was the perfect place to go. Every where you go can't escape the beauty! Up to the Doc's house we headed.

We walked up the huge hill so I could get a better shot of the surrounding scenery and we decided we'd walk around some shops and head back. We were walking back down and we noticed that they were busy building Large's restaurant, so my Gran being the most forward person on the planet chooses to shout to the men setting up to ask if they new when filming starts. This isn't the embarrassing part, you'd think it's quiet a good thing but you could tell she was going to drag me in to it and start explaining about the book to men who only did set up. Me, mum and dad pilled into the nearest shop. I soon got volunteered to go and rescue them, going out to my Gran we were right she was busy telling them all about the book and how much I loved Caroline and they were like that's really nice. They said eventually that it was said they should be filming at the school the next day but, didn't know the times and who would be there, we thanked them and left swiftly. After looking about for a bit and Dad got splashed by the sea we went back to the Buttermilk Shop and spoke to the man again who spoke about Caroline and Martin explaining how nice they were to me and Gran once again explained about the book and he said she'd love it and I suppose he was right. He kind fully filled me about filming while my family were out talking to a woman from New Zealand. After that we looked about a bit more and stumbled across the notice board for filming and saw it started at 9.00a.m and it didn't take a genius to work out who would be filming at the school really did it? I pestered my parents until they finally agreed to get there when it started and really I think if we didn't we wouldn't have the chance to meet her because that's when it started to fill up a bit but as the day went on it thinned out. But that's for another day. We agreed to get up earlier and get there for as close to 9.00 as we could because that's when it started.

We left and had a short drive to St Teath, got changed and went to the local pub and had a lovely meal. I also had to take to book because of the amount that still needed to be completed! We stayed from about 7 o'clock to gone 11 o'clock and IT STILL WASN'T FINISHED. Very close mind it was just my comment, the front cover and finishing decorative work but it still wasn't complete. I gave up knowing I needed to be ready for the day ahead and headed back to the B&B and fell asleep not really knowing the full extent of what would unfold the next day!

(I didn't know where to fit it in but practically every shop in the village has a signed photo from each cast member and it's so weird being like wow they've been here too aha. Jusy thought I should add it in.)
